DACA Dream Act

Sacramento DACA Lawyers

Even though the executive order for Deferred Action for Child Arrivals (DACA) has been the subject of considerable controversy, and regrettably has not been codified by legislation, applications are still being accepted by the United States Citizenship & Immigration Services (USCIS). Our Sacramento DACA lawyer can work with applicants who need help.

DACA Eligibility

The DACA program is aimed at protecting those whose parents may be undocumented residents in the United States. In order to be eligible, a child should have entered the U.S. no later than their 16th birthday, and then lived here for at least five years. All of this must have transpired prior to June 15, 2012, when the DACA executive order was issued. Furthermore, the five years of residency needs to have been continuous, and on that 6/15/12 date, the applicant needs to have still lived in the U.S. and be younger than 31 years old.

Our Sacramento DACA attorneys will also need to provide documentation showing that the applicant graduated from high school, obtained their Graduate Equivalency Degree (GED), or is presently doing either one. Finally, proof of moral character, particularly that one is not a threat to national security, will need to be brought forward.

Benefits of DACA

While DACA does not grant permanent residency status, it still has important benefits. First and foremost, a person is protected from deportation. They will also have the ability to get a work permit and a valid Social Security number.

The DACA system is far from perfect and needs improvement, but its benefits are real. Call our Sacramento DACA lawyers today to get help with an application.
