Michelle Smith – Associate Attorney
I am a Bay Area native. I have been an attorney licensed to practice law in California for over 20 years. I speak English and Spanish. I lived and studied in Mexico where I met my son’s father who later immigrated to the United States. All of my work as an attorney has involved advocating for immigrants’ rights. I believe everyone, regardless of their legal status here in the United States, deserves to be treated fairly with dignity and respect.
For the last five years, I have worked as an immigration attorney representing immigrants in deportation proceedings and in applications for affirmative asylum, adjustment of status and naturalization. Prior to working in immigration, I worked as a senior trial attorney for the National Labor Relations Board where most of my cases involved prosecuting employers for discrimination against immigrants in the workplace. I appreciate and enjoy working with immigrants because I can help them achieve their dreams and receive the benefits from all the hard work and care that they put into our communities.
